Standards Introduction

During the development of the E-Portfolio I was able to utilize the skills acquired throughout the program and acquire new skills by working in WordPress, using visual, HTML, and CSS modifications. The E-Portfolio provides an overview of the work I am capable of.

My goal is to obtain a job in a virtual capacity utilizing the skills showcased within my E-Portfolio. It is my hope that this portfolio will assist in my professional trajectory by demonstrating my skills and abilities gained during the M. Ed. Program. Academically, my goal is to return to USF to earn a doctoral degree, though I first would like to establish a career path.

My portfolio is designed to showcase my Instructional Design/Technology (IDT) abilities, skills, and performance by providing evidence from coursework completed during progression through the M. Ed. Instructional Technology/Curriculum & Instruction program at the University of South Florida. Each artifact has been selected to address one the five areas of the national standards developed by the Association for Educational Communications & Technology (AECT) in 2012; Content Knowledge, Content Pedagogy, Learning Environments, Professional Knowledge and Skills, and Research. Furthermore, this portfolio provides a record of my competencies as a student and an overview of my IDT capabilities for potential employers and future doctoral studies. A description will be provided for each artifact to support how it best meets the given standard.

Three artifacts were chosen that best exemplify each of the five standards.

Content Knowledge

Content knowledge is shown through creating, using, and managing theoretical and practical applications of educational technologies and processes (AECT, 2012). My Language Arts Corner Website, English Canvas Course, and School Choice Special Report demonstrate my ability to create, use, and manage content knowledge.

Content Pedagogy

Kayla’s case, the Literary Archetypes Performance Assessment, and Case Story 3, all demonstrate how best to create, use, assess/evaluate effective implementation of educational technologies and processes (AECT, 2012). These artifacts are based on contemporary content and pedagogy and develop reflective practices (AECT, 2012).

Learning Environments

I chose to use my Teaching Philosophy, Snake Invaders Game, and Final project management assignment as artifacts that demonstrate the diversity of learners, assess/evaluate, and manage learning environments, which is key to facilitating learning.

Professional Knowledge and Skills

The Duolingo Application Usability Report, Augmented Reality in the Future 5th Grade Classroom and Snake Invaders Reflection showcase leadership, reflection on practice, and collaborative practice by designing, evaluating, implementing, and reflecting on technology-rich learning environments (AECT, 2012).

Research

Utilizing theoretical foundations, methodologies, and ethics within research are apparent in my Psychology Paper, Motivation Final Project and Instructional Design Plan. I explore, evaluate, synthesize, and apply inquiry and enhance learning (AECT, 2012).
